Permalink Reply by MG on August 29, 2011 at 10:34pm Hi Darryl... just found this site and your comments,
After joining Origin Surf a few days ago... I thought I'd ask about some "known" spots (not secret, just what they state on their web site disclaimer, as being public... the "known" stuff they'll help you to locate... yeah right!)
Anyway, the nasty shite that came my way was unreal... I grew up for a spell in LA during the late 70's and early 80's during the Punk-Surfers/Mexicali surf riots, and the Origin Surf comments kinda had the same smell. So, after searching link upon link, I came across your posts... and a more sensible refrain....
If you still have it listed, I'd luv to get a look at the map (and would also be willing to share any info I find in return).
I'm from Florida (Gulf-coast), but am up in Muskoka for a chunk of the year... and would luv to find a few spots within a days drive or so, for a little ride or two...
Again, I appreciate any and all help...
Regards,
Mitchum

Permalink Reply by NEsurfah on August 31, 2011 at 12:32pm I'm in agreement with the last reply. Let's get a reality check, it is the great lakes. At least in my area, no one is breaking down the door to drop in on a 1 ft wave in the middle of winter. Maybe I'll live to regret this but, would love to see the map anyways, and if anyone wants to join me at my spot, I would welcome the company.
Thanks
Dave.

Permalink Reply by Chas de Brie on September 3, 2011 at 7:44am Hey, Darryl,
It's better to be out there w/someone than be a lone toiler on the sea. That can get weird. There's plenty for everyone, no poverty-minds here.
I'm happy to contribute when I find something good. Meantime, love to see what you've come up with so far..

Permalink Reply by MG on September 11, 2011 at 9:00pm Not sure where to add to the map... but just came back from Manitoulin Island this week. Although, it's already listed on the map, it's not specific - after all, the island's pretty big (in fact, the biggest freshwater Island in the world). So, if you're look'in... I'd suggest you head to Providence Bay... stand dead center in the middle of the bay on the beach, looking out to the open water to the south, turn your head a little to the left, and you'll see a rugged point at the end of the bay on the east side. Start walking, and walking, and..... some more walking.... then go around that point to the next bay (you have to walk on the beach for a fair bit - past a marina and over some rocks). When the wind blows from the S. or S.W. it gets a good, 4-6 and even higher I'm told... much higher..
Some rocks near the shore, but nothing I could see out by the break.
One lone cat on the island from what I can gather... He's pretty happy to see another face. That's my spot for the map (err sorry, his spot!)
P.S. Didn't have GPS notes, but hopefully the "description location" can be added to the map.
P.P.S. Aside from the surf, this island is one cool, cool spot on the big 'ole blue ball..!
