Permalink Reply by jim on November 23, 2011 at 1:27pm It was nice to be out 2 days in a row. By the time I left, things were dropping quickly.

Permalink Reply by jim on November 23, 2011 at 2:32pm I should have gone to the cove. Today was the day of paddling my ass off. At the peanut I made it outside no problem at first. I caught a decent right, then took 4 big waves on the nose. My second paddle out was fine too but my arms were rubber by then. I caught another nice ride. After that ride however the lake seemed to just wall up with heavy wave after wave. The shore break was barrel close outs in waist deep water. After that I kept getting hammered again and again. Finally I gave up and went to the main beach. At the main beach the rip was really great for getting past the inside break, but to get truly outside past the outer sandbars I had to take several in the face / duck dive (hard on my floaty board) while waiting for a lull. Once outside, the current was sending me east and out to the middle of the lake - not too fast mind you, but it was strong enough to make it so that I was frequently constantly paddling to stay in position.
So in 2.5 hours of surfing I ended up catching about 1/2 dozen waves - clean and exciting - but it was a hell of a lot of work. I'm looking forward to the next waist high day at the peanut, or a day jumping off a pier or wading in at some sheltered spot just beyond the break.
Having said all of this (what a big assed load of horseshit eh? And yet you're still reading? Cool. Thanks.) I'm so fucking glad that the weather has finally improved. Tuesday looks like it might happen...
Until then, stay soggy.
